Last updated: June 20, 2026  ·  Developer: Matej Čok  ·  matejcok16@gmail.com

Overview

All data you enter into Birdy is stored only on your device. We have no servers, we collect no personal information, and we share nothing with anyone.

1. Data Controller

Matej Cok, Croatia, European Union. Contact: matejcok16@gmail.com

2. What Data We Collect

Birdy stores the following information exclusively on your device:

— Names, birthdays, and relationship categories of people you add
— Gift ideas and notes you write
— Profile photos you choose from your device
— App preferences (notifications, appearance, language)
— Whether Birdy Unlimited has been purchased

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, IP addresses, or any other telemetry.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using SQLite and device key-value storage. Birdy has no servers or cloud infrastructure of its own. We cannot access, view, or retrieve anything you store in the app. Deleting the app or using Settings → Reset All Data permanently removes all your data.

4. Device Permissions

Contacts (optional) — Requested only when you choose to import birthdays. Contact data is read once and stored locally. It is never transmitted or shared. The app works fully without this permission.

Notifications (optional) — Used to send local birthday reminders. All notifications are generated and delivered on your device only. Nothing is sent to external servers.

Photo Library (optional) — Requested only when you add a profile photo. Photos are stored locally and never uploaded.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device Settings.

5. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to display birthday reminders, send local notifications, and save your preferences. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

6. Third-Party Services

Apple App Store — In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We do not handle payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy

Expo — The app is built on the Expo framework. App updates are delivered over the air via Expo's update service. These updates contain only app code — no user data is transmitted. Expo's privacy policy: expo.dev/privacy

No advertising networks, analytics tools, or tracking SDKs are present in the app.

7. Data Retention

Your data stays on your device for as long as you have the app installed. You can delete individual entries in the app, or delete everything via Settings → Reset All Data. Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently.

8. Children's Privacy

Birdy is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has entered personal information, contact us at matejcok16@gmail.com.

9. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the app.

For anything you cannot do within the app, contact us at matejcok16@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Croatian data protection authority (AZOP): azop.hr

10. International Data Transfers

We do not transfer your data internationally. Your data does not leave your device. Purchase data processed by Apple may be transferred internationally under Apple's own policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
